Methods to Quit Smoking and Which Ones Work

By Lance Esondi

When you desire to quit smoking, they will find that there are a variety of methods to quit smoking. It might not even be the first time, you have found yourself wanting to quit. With all the options it can be confusing and somewhat frustrating finding a solution.

Everyone has heard of the first method, probably the one tried the most, going cold turkey. Cold turkey is throwing out your cigarettes and vowing to never smoke again. For those with exceptional willpower, this really works. For many people, they struggle and/or fail doing this. If you are going to go cold turkey, you might want to gradually limit your nicotine intake over a period of time as well as change your diet to avoid sever withdrawal symptoms. If you have superior willpower, go with this. If not, try something else.

Hypnosis is another method that is attempted to stop smoking. Someone will hypnotize you to hopefully end your desire for a cigarette. Some people claim it works and some people claim it does not work. But the same could be said about people who are hypnotized to lose weight, so it's a bit debatable. There is nothing wrong with trying, but there can be better ways to quit.

Quit smoking aids is another method and one of the more successful ways to quit smoking. These aids include things like the patches, the gums, and the pill people take to quit smoking. One thing to look out for is the nicotine content in these products. They may help curb your desire for a cigarette but also leave you with strong desires for nicotine found in their products.

If you decide to go for quit smoking aids, there are gums and pills without any nicotine in them at all. These can help curb your desire for cigarettes, without leaving you still addicted to nicotine.

With all the methods out there, remember there is no easy way to quit smoking.
