The biggest thing on the minds of most people when they are getting close to finish their massage therapy training is will they be able to find a good massage therapy job afterwards.
As you will soon discover there are plenty of massage therapy jobs which one can undertake once training has been completed. Some therapists end up working in massage studios or at health spas or salons. Whilst others find themselves positions working in medical environments, such as at a doctor's office or in a hospital. The other types of jobs available to massage therapists will depend on where they live for example some may find themselves working in hotels or at leisure resorts.
The best way for finding out what jobs are available where you live is by talking to other massage therapists. If you can rather than just talking to those who are connected with the school that you attend speak to others who have no affiliation with your school. If you can speak to several of them that are located in different parts of the town where you live and those who actually do massage therapy in a field that you may not have considered.
As you look for a massage therapists job you may discover that you have to factor in travelling as you may find that there is a higher demand for people who have trained as massage therapists in one part of the town compared to another. Also you may find it much easier to get a position working in a health spa as a massage therapist than you would say working for a doctor or hospital.
It is important to remember that when talking to these people they will have been in the same situation as you after they had finished their training. Many of these will often be more than willing to help answer any or all of the questions that you have regarding getting a job after completing your training. In some cases you may find that they can provide you not only with advice but also a lead which could end up getting you the job that you want.
If you know the location where it is you want to work then start carrying out as much research on the place as you can. Along with speaking to the person who hires staff arrange if at all possible to speak with the massage therapists already working there. If you have not yet started training then find out from them where they did their training. Plus you need to find out exactly what it is they like and dislike about their job. Although the job may be ideally suited to their requirements, you may find that it is not the right one for you.
Most massage therapy schools will have programs in place to help their graduates find a massage therapy job after they graduate. Schools that have built a good reputation in the community often have companies asking them for graduates to hire right out of school. If you haven't already chosen a school to attend for your training, be sure to take each school's job assistance programs into consideration before you choose a school.
By keeping the above in mind, you will find that actually getting the right massage therapy job for you will be far less fraught. Also spend time looking carefully at the various jobs that you can do and weigh up the pros and cons before applying.
