Build A Nice Patio With Pavers

By Kurt Schefken

A deck is a nice addition to any home. It is a great place to spend leisure time and just hang out after a long day at work. Many people choose to go with a wooden deck, but pavers are another option that are starting to gain in popularity. Pavers, sometimes called paving stones, have some advantages over wood that make them a better choice for constructing a deck.

Advantages

Pavers are easy to use. Unlike decorative wood that may need specialized jigs to get the look you want, pavers come in many different sizes and designs at a much lower cost. With wooden decks it can be hard to conform to building codes, but pavers easily fit into codes. Pavers can be easily fit into your landscaping. They will not hide you bushes and flowers and you can easily use pavers around existing landscaping. Pavers offer a sense of space that you don't get from a wood deck. They also offer more space and since they are low to the ground there is no fear of falls or knocking things off the deck. Additionally, they do not rot as wood does and so maintenance is a breeze. Pavers can also be moved around to fit your needs. Wood decks are permanent, but pavers allow for freedom. Sometimes a new building structure is not permitted and wooden decks are considered new construction. Pavers are not considered new construction so they can be used even where wooden decks can not.

How to Use Them

Pavers are simple to use. You simply come up with a design and them put the min place. They are flat to the ground, so they can easily be cleaned by sweeping or spraying off with a hose. You can shave them down to fit them into special areas, too. They can be laid out however you desire to create the size and shape you want for your deck. When compared to the labor intensity of building a wood deck, pavers are a breeze. You can build your paver deck in a matter of hours and begin enjoying it right away. You never have to touch up paint or repair rotten wood, either. They are a time saver and convenience all in one.

It is easy to see why people are deciding to go with pavers over building a wood deck. They offer the benefits of a wood deck without the hassle. They are perfect for renters or those without a lot of extra space. Pavers are an excellent choice for your next deck project.
