Handling Our Internal Struggle With Truth

There is a great story that demonstrates the advice Jesus gave His followers when He sent them out to tell people the good news - the news that the Kingdom of God is within. It is about a struggle between the Wind and the Sun, about who was the strongest. The Wind thought he was stronger because of his destructive might in tornadoes, hurricanes, sand storms, and thunder storms. He pointed out his ability to transform a simple cigarette or lightning strike into a raging forest fire which could level hundreds of thousands of acres of woods.
There wasn't a day that went by without the Wind bragging of his strength. The Sun grew weary of the Wind's arrogance and decided to settle the matter once and for all. He challenged the Wind to a contest.
"Look, you old wind bag," bragged the Sun, "I'm going to prove you are not as powerful or influential as you think you are."
"Oh, you are, are you? Just how do you plan to do that?" taunted the Wind.
"See that old Truth Student down there taking a walk?"
The Wind whirled himself around to get a better look. The Wind smiled his joy and sent a taunting gust of wind to throw the Truth Student off balance.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Yes, I observe him. Kinda wimpy isn't he? Surely you can find a better subject than that pathetic old Truth Seeker!"
The Sun's voice did not change as he leveled his dare. "I dare you to blow the Student's jacket off his back."
"Wow! You're making this much too easy. In a short while," he bragged, "I shall rule Heaven and Earth."
He began to blow, playfully at first, to confuse the Truth Seeker. To his surprise, the man held onto his jacket. The Wind blew harder, sending the man ricocheting back and forth across the street - but the elderly man grasped his jacket even tighter! The stronger the Wind blew, the more the man resisted.
The Truth Student's strength angered the Wind, so he blew huge gusts of wind, which pushed the man into parked vehicles and against the sides of buildings. But the man would not let go of his jacket. Another fierce gust of wind blew the man's hat off and knocked him to the ground, but the man clung to his coat even harder.
Finally, the Wind gave up and challenged the Sun to succeed where he had failed.
The Sun grinned and sent radiant rays of warmth upon the Truth Student. The gentleman stood up and brushed off his coat and slacks, grateful for the change in the weather. In a short while, he began to respond to the heat. Beads of sweat began to appear on his forehead and neck.
The sun sent even more radiant light and warmth upon the Truth Seeker who first unzipped his jacket and finally removed it.
The Sun's "soft sell" approach was much more persuasive, wouldn't you agree? The Wind's agenda was to rip the coat off the man against his will. The Wind had mixed up loving invitation with harsh influence.
The Sun, on the other hand, understood the essence of tactful influence and that the greatest kind of power is showing warmth, kindness, and understanding through letting its light shine - instead of intimidation, power, judgmentalness, or humiliation.
The Sun applied the same secret Jesus understood when He warned His disciples not to force Truth principles on others. He encouraged a soft metaphysical approach. The message is in three of the four Gospels, so it is an important teaching. It appears in Matt. 10:7;10-14; Mark 6: 7-11; and Luke 9: 1-5.
The literal translation is fairly straightforward. Share the Truth with those who are ready to hear it. If you meet with resistance or disinterest, don't force things. Shake the dust off your sandals and non-judgmentally move forward on your Truth journey.
Metaphysically, this story is rich in timeless wisdom. I'll explain the key words and concepts first and then offer a metaphysical interpretation:
Jesus: that within us which recognizes and conscientiously works to fulfill our Christ Potential
Kingdom of Heaven: Christ Consciousness
Twelve disciples: the twelve higher consciousness powers inside us
Town or village: a group of accepted views, a belief system, a particular point of view, socially accepted behaviors
House: individual human consciousness
Shake the dust off your feet: denying the power of the shallowness of materialism or the unhealthy magnetism of outer appearances to cloud our spiritual understanding
Metaphysically, there are three valuable lessons with a spiritual meaning:
1.As we apply our growing awareness of Truth principles (the 12 powers, represented by the 12 disciples, which are strengthened by our (I Am-ness) to our current beliefs and habitual ways of thinking, we will meet with some internal resistance. It is normal to experience some inner fighting whenever we are stretching our spiritual awareness.
2.Some of our beliefs will be easy to revamp. Others may take a while. Be patient with yourself as you shift your thinking to the new, greater spiritual Truth.
3.When we encounter resistant thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs, we need to deny the power of materialistic inclinations to cloud our understanding (shake the dust from our feet) and continue to walk the spiritual path on practical feet.

Gout will usually only attack one joint at a time, which is just as well when you consider the intensity of gout pain. It is very common to get gout attacks in your big toe, this may be because we use our big toes to balance us when we walk. Every gout sufferer wants to get treatment but they don't all want the same sort of treatment.
Some people expect gout treatment to not only stop the pain but to prevent it coming back. Gout attacks can come on quickly so gout sufferers expect the pain relief to be equally quick. Gout also causes inflammation of the joints so the pain relief solution has to deal with that as well.
As we all become more wealthy and our lives become more busy our diet is becoming worse. Gout is a disease that is directly affected by what you eat, if you eat a diet high in purines and don't take in enough fluids then your chances of getting Gout are high. If you already have Gout then your attacks will be made worse by your dietary habits.
However, as for medications to help treat gout the most common types to be used are NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), colchicines, corticosteroids, ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone), allopurinol, probenecid and sulfinpyrazone. But of all of these, the most commonly used is the NSAIDS that will be prescribed by a doctor for treating acute cases of this condition.

Kayak With a Friend in Tandem

Kayaking is an increasingly popular adventure sport. Initially, kayaks were designed to accommodate only one person. Now, with the advent of tandem kayaks you can navigate through rapids, paddle beautiful oceans or glide across still lakes and through hidden waterways together in the same boat.

This is the claim of AA Insurance, who highlighted that consumers who choose flouting the law by talking on the phone while driving will be fined with a fixed-penalty notice of 60 pounds. And although some people may think that this punishment is enough in itself, for those using a mobile while in motion the financial services firm implied that such drivers will be charged higher motor insurance premiums. It was also indicated that drivers who are guilty of using a mobile phone while behind the wheel will discover their insurance costs rise by around 40 pounds over the course of 12 months - with increases over the 3-year period that the offence lasts for indicated to be "well over" 100 pounds.
Although increasing the annual cost of insurance by 40 pounds is a substantial rise in itself , many drivers are finding that being caught with a mobile while at the wheel may lead to even more serious financial consequences. You Can't Live Without AA Batteries

I found it highly amusing when my parents handed me a rather heavy bag of AA batteries when we went down to see them for Christmas. They had bought quite a few things for my daughter for Christmas, and most of them took at least two AA batteries. They said that they know how expensive batteries can be, and they thought that if they did not supply the batteries that she might not get to play with many of her new toys. They may have been on to something because had we been the ones to buy the batteries, many of her toys would still be in the boxes they came in.
I was astounded at the number of AA batteries that we had to buy for the few toys we got her this year. I tried to get her toys that did not require batteries, because I think the ones that do not require batteries are more fun for kids. We did end up getting her three things that take AA batteries, and one of them took seven of them. I could not believe it. We bought a package of batteries for all three toys, but my husband had to go back to the store at the last minute to get more. Seven batteries in one toy is just ridiculous if you ask me, and it's not like it did anything miraculous either.
Toys are not the only things in our home that eat through the AA batteries. My digital camera will take this size battery, but I gave up on that long ago. I would barely begin taking shots and the batteries would die. I even toyed with rechargeable AA batteries for my digital, but they weren't the greatest deal either. I finally went out and got one of the other recommended types of batteries for my digital camera. If I hadn't, I might have had to give up something just to pay for the batteries.
We also have a lot of remotes that take AA batteries. Though these do not run through batteries as quickly, they certainly demand their fair share. I think that if it were not for rechargeable AA batteries we might be broke by now. As things become more and more complicated, the need for batteries goes up. There has to be a way to stop this expense from becoming impossible to keep up with. There are AC adaptors for such things, but my remote isn't designed to use one. That would be silly anyway. I'm hoping they can come up with a way to make the batteries to last longer without jacking up the price too much.

The Boston Terrier, nicknamed The American Gentleman, is the first dog breed to be developed in America. They were bred specifically to be companion dogs to human beings. However, their ancestors were fighting dogs, including their original type of the rare breed the Olde English Bulldogges. This ancient breed was thought to have been created from crossing the English Bulldog and the long-gone English White Terrier.
This is not as crazy as it might first sound. Many breeds of dogs that are vicious to other dogs are very protective and loving to people. Often, gentleness to people was favored in dog fighting dog breeds such as the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the original Staffordshire Bull Terrier. It seems that if the fighting dogs can't get their companionship from other dogs, they'll turn to people for company. Over time, the Olde English Bulldogge was bred smaller, with a different shaped head and even gentler personality to become the Boston Terrier.
There were dogs already in North America living with the Native Americans, but they were not the kind of dogs the European colonists were used to. Also, the Native American dogs were still half-wild and independent. The young country of America, although proud of their American-ness, also yearned for some of the comforts of the old country. One of these comforts was for a companion dog based on Bulldog stock.
Bulldogs, although developed for fighting bulls and other dogs, are incredibly friendly with people. This is probably because they turned to people as their pack members instead of other dogs. This is a trait in many Bulldog varieties, including the French Bulldog and English Bulldog, which were used in the Boston Terrier's creation. One of the old names of the Boston Terrier was the Boston Bull. Recently, bull in a breed name has gotten a bad reputation so the Bull part has been replaced by Terrier.
